The Faculty of Wood and Paper Engineering is one of the oldest faculties of Gorgan University of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, which has trained experienced experts needed by the country's industries. This college started working in 1957 under the name of Forest and Pasture High School. After becoming the University Complex of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources of Gorgan in 1989, the Faculty of Natural Resources was developed into the Faculty of Forestry and Wood & Paper Engineering until in 2011 it became two specialized faculties, the Faculty of Wood & Paper Engineering and the Faculty of Forest Sciences. Currently, two specialized departments of Paper Science & Engineering and the department of Wood Engineering & Technology are engaged in scientific and research activities in this faculty. The existence of numerous specialized laboratories, as well as the students benefiting from various educational, research, cultural, welfare and sports facilities, make the Faculty of Wood and Paper Engineering as one of the main centers for training experts and craftsmen active in the wood and cellulose industries of the country. Also, due to the presence of experienced professors in this Faculty, as well as, extensive international connections with prestigious universities and research centers in the world, the possibility of continuing education up to the doctorate level and conducting advanced scientific-industrial research is fully available for interested students.
